The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station sponsor a number of educational conferences throughout the year on the campus of Michigan State University. Conferences like 2007's Wind Energy Conference were able to extend their reach and connect with people interested in the topic around the state, the nation and the world through the use of streaming video on the World Wide Web.

Countries around the world are interested in accessing the knowledge of Michigan State University faculty.  However, sending faculty members half-way around the world to deliver a day's worth of lectures comes with a high transactional cost. In 2005, the Institute of International Agriculture was able to share the expertise of five faculty members with governmental leaders in Mali via the World Wide Web.

Classes in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources are known for giving students the opportunity to study their subjects in the field as well as the classroom. However, sometimes it's not possible to get students into the field at exactly the right time to see nature unfold.

By incorporating video elements into their classes, faculty members like Dr. Ron Perry have been able to take students on a field trip to the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station's Clarksville facility regardless of the class's schedule.
