ANR Week to offer Better Process Control School

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Certification courses from the Better Process Control School will take place March 9-13 during Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Week at Michigan State University (MSU). The course will be offered at the Crop and Soil Sciences Teaching and Research (Agronomy) Farm. Better Process Control School offers food processing supervisors instruction and testing for certification in retort operations, process systems operations, aseptic processing and packaging systems operations, and container closure inspections.

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulation states that all container closure inspectors and operators of retorts, processing systems, and aseptic processing and packaging systems need to be under the supervision of an individual who has received certification from an approved school.

Registration is available for two- or four-day courses. Registration fees cover tuition, textbook, lunches and refreshment breaks. Courses and fees are:

  • March     9-11: Two-day     Acidified Foods Course, $410 per person.
  • March 9-13: Four-day Acidified Foods and     Low-acid Canned Foods Course, $770 per person or $695 per person when two     or more people from the same company register together. This class will     take place only if there are at least 15 people registered for this     portion.

Two-day course schedule:
Monday: Registration—12:30 p.m.; class—1-6 p.m. 
Tuesday: Class—8 a.m.-6 p.m. 
Wednesday: Class—8 a.m.-noon

Four-day course schedule: 
Monday: Registration—12:30 p.m.; class—1-6 p.m.
Tuesday: Class—8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Wednesday-Thursday: Class—8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday: Class 8-11:30 a.m.
