EAST LANSING, Mich. – A free Breakfast on the Farm event hosted by Goma Dairy will offer fun learning experiences for the whole family. The event will take place July 21, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., at 3981 Aitken Rd., Marlette. Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to noon.
Breakfast on the Farm at this modern dairy farm offers consumers a free (with ticket) breakfast featuring Michigan-made products. Families can take self-guided tours to see where the farm’s 3,000 cows are milked and housed. Children will have the opportunity to engage in various activities related to farm life.
Tours will include educational exhibits where Breakfast on the Farm volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions that guests may have.
Gertie van den Goor and her husband, Geert, owners of Goma Dairy Farm, say they are thrilled to show consumers what it takes to run a large dairy farm.
“Families will be able to tour the milking parlor and see for themselves how well we take care of the cows,” Gertie said. “The children will also enjoy seeing how many calves we have.”
Getting their start many generations ago in Europe, the van den Goor family has a passion for farming.
“We love what we do,” Gertie said. “It doesn’t matter that we have to wake up early, it’s all worth it.”
The farm tour and breakfast are free, but tickets are limited and required to eat breakfast. Free tickets can be obtained from the following sources after June 25:
