EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Firefighters, emergency response team members, paramedics and other first responders are invited to attend a training session to help them deal with situations related to livestock on April 16 at the Michigan State University (MSU) Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education.

The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature presentations from farm disaster responders. Hands-on sessions will allow participants to practice safe handling of farm animal species, fencing and controlling livestock, herding, and poultry and waterfowl handling.

The workshop is intended to help participants increase their skills and ability to handle emergency situations involving domestic livestock through hands-on training and experience with animal species common on Michigan farms.

The $150 registration fee can be paid at the door. To register or receive more information, contact the Livingston County MSU Extension office at 517-546-3950.

The Livestock Handling Workshop is sponsored by MSU Extension.
