EAST LANSING, Mich. -- From families to farmers, everyone interested in learning about baby animals, farming and agriculture are invited to attend Small Animals Day, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Michigan State University (MSU).

Small Animals Day offers hands-on activities to educate audiences of all ages about the contributions of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) in related industries.

Among the animals on exhibit will be MSU dairy and beef cattle, pigs, sheep, horses and chickens, as well as special exhibits of minor livestock breeds such as miniature donkeys, llamas, alpacas and pygmy goats.

Visitors will be taken by bus to the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education for hands-on activities, where children can milk a cow, ride in a horse-drawn wagon and enter a coloring contest.

Parking is located at the corner of Mt. Hope and Farm Lane and buses will transport visitors to the farms, with the last bus leaving at noon. The cost for Small Animals Day is $2 per person; MSU students with identification cards are admitted free. For additional information, call 517-355-9575.

Small Animals Day is sponsored by the MSU CANR and the CANR Student Senate.
