EAST LANSING, Mich. -- A mare’s fertility can be influenced by such factors as her health, age and reproductive anatomy; stallion fertility and the breeding manager’s technical skills. To help horse breeders learn more about increasing their chances of getting a mare in foal, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension’s My Horse University and eXtension’s HorseQuest will offer a free live webcast on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. EST.
The journey between signing a breeding contract and watching a healthy foal frolic near its mother can take well over a year. The webinar, titled “Why Won’t My Mare Get Pregnant?” will feature Kathy Anderson, University of Nebraska Extension horse specialist, and an expert in horse management, equine reproduction and nutrition. She’ll discuss common problems that arise in the breeding barn and offer solutions to help get your mare pregnant. Participants may register online at https://noncredit.msu.edu/offeringDetail.action?sectionId=314.
